One Northside is a resident-led movement to improve the quality of life for all Northsiders. It guides and connects Northside residents and public, private and non-profit organizations dedicated to achieving this goal.

Our areas of focus.
Nobody knows what Northsiders need to improve their quality of life better than the residents themselves. So, when One Northside began in 2014, we asked that very question. After thousands of interviews with residents, local leaders, small businesses and civic groups, the community identified the following areas of focus as important for improvement:
What we do.
One Northside is a conduit for the needs of residents across the Northside's 18 diverse neighborhoods. For residents passionate about improving the area's quality of life, we offer opportunities for engagement within our six areas of focus. For residents in need of assistance within those same areas, we offer connections with local public, private and non-profit groups that provide the advocacy and solutions they need.
A long-term commitment.
Sustainable improvement in the lives of all Northsiders doesn't happen overnight. It takes time. That's why One Northside has committed to this mission for a long time to come.
Northsiders take the lead.
One Northside is not here to tell residents what they need. We're here to listen and empower Northsiders to achieve the solutions they want. From the empathic outcomes of community policing to improved quality of preK-12 education and so much more, One Northside is supporting the path to improvement as defined by Northside residents, community groups and local organizations.

Our Northside connection.
One Northside is an initiative of the Buhl Foundation - an organization founded by visionary Northside department store owner and entrepreneur Henry Buhl, Jr. as a memorial to his beloved wife, Louise C. Buhl. It is the mission of the Buhl Foundation to create community legacies by leveraging its resources to encourage people and organizations to dream, to innovate and to take action. The storied Buhl Planetarium is just one of many examples of the foundation's philanthropy. With its dedicated focus in the 18 neighborhoods of the Northside, One Northside is even more of a homecoming. We know Mr. Buhl would be proud.
